How Parents Can Support Their Child’s Football Journey – Without Pressure

As a parent, you play a big role in your child’s football journey. The most important thing you can do is support them with love, care, and encouragement, without putting too much pressure on them.

Here are some simple ways to support your child in football:

  1. Encourage, Don’t Pressure
Let your child enjoy the game. Cheer for them during matches, but don’t focus only on winning. It’s okay if they make mistakes, they are still learning.
  2. Be Positive
After a game or practice, talk about what they did well. If they had a tough day, remind them it’s all part of the game and that effort matters more than results.
  3. Let the Coach Do the Coaching
Trust the coaches at the academy, like at Kathmandu Kickers, to teach your child the game. Your job is to support and motivate, not to give technical advice.
  4. Focus on Fun and Growth
Football should be fun. Help your child stay excited and happy about playing. This helps them stay motivated and confident.
  5. Support a Healthy Balance
Make sure your child eats well, gets enough sleep, and has time for school and rest. A balanced life helps them do better in sports and in school.

At Kathmandu Kickers, we believe football is more than just a game, it’s about learning life skills, building confidence, and staying active.
